DIESEL MECHANIC JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Employees in this classification perform several complex tasks in the day-to-day maintenance of Drivetrain on Light Duty and Heavy-Duty Equipment. Employees must have the ability to work unsupervised with a minimum amount of instruction. Employees operate light duty vehicles and various types of equipment. Employees may be exposed to extreme heat and cold for extended periods of time, required to lift up to 50 pounds, push up to 50 pounds, and carry 50 pounds. Employees will perform other duties as directed and needed by the company to ensure optimal safe operation. The client is willing further to train the employee if they have a mechanical or construction background.
Perform continuous and repeated bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying at waist level, tools and other items including hoses, ladders, tool trays and power tools weighting up to 40 pounds.
Walk, climb, stoop and carry items on uneven surfaces for the purpose of maneuvering around equipment and facilities for planned and unplanned maintenance.
Hold, turn or otherwise operate hand tools, including but not limited to screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, chains and crowbars weighing up to 20 pounds.
Ascend and work from equipment and ladders as high as 25 feet in the air.
Operate production machinery and equipment such as overhead cranes, shop doors, valves, and gauges to perform maintenance functions.
Operate pick-up trucks and Semi trucks
Wear personal protective equipment including, hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, respirators, rain gear, earplugs, gloves or any other equipment to perform duties safely.
Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies, such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages.
Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps
Repair radiator leaks
Repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems.
Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
Test mechanical systems to ensure proper functioning
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
2 years experience in Diesel Mechanics preferred.
No degree needed as long as have the experience
Must have good written and verbal communications skills.
Must have Cumminss engine experience
Must maintain a clean and safe working area.
Good attendance and safety records.
No DUIs in the past 7 years
10-year MVR check will be ran
CDL is preferred to help with moving trucks
Attention to Detail
Will need valid Driver License
Will need own basic tools at minimum.
All Geotemps employment is contingent on Drug Screen and Criminal Background screening results.
Withstand exposure to extreme heat or cold up to 8 hours or more per day.
Very loud tools and noise exposure through out shift.
