Position Summary:

This position provides overall support directly related to the Milling and Paving Operation and ensures the project is completed in a Safe manner with quality and productive results.


• Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety, first in everything we do.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
• Maintain good health status with ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. and flexibility to bend, push, pull, stoop and/or twist
• Able to read and understand plans and specifications for each project
• Be sure to have a copy of the project plans with you at all times and confirm the information with the Superintendent or Project Manager
• Must be on site (30) minutes prior to start time. Review the project with the Superintendent. Ensure project is ready and all equipment is on site, functioning properly, and in position for a prompt start. Perform a walk thru paying particular attention to Potential Hazards
• Thoroughly inspect area with a metal detector prior to the start of any milling
• Be sure exchange contact information with Project Personnel
• Ensure proper layout of project from contract drawings to ensure the highest quality and productive practices are used
• Establish and maintain positive relationship with all those working under your supervision as well as the Project Superintendent, and Owner
• Call Operations Coordinator with an attendance report at the beginning of the shift. Send team member home for unexcused tardiness. For unexcused absence, send team member home the next day
• Conduct Weekly Toolbox Talks and turn in to Safety Department
• Monitor Milling operations for depth of cut, cross slope and quality of cut; communicate with Quality Control
• Ensure crew and trucks are operating efficiently at all times
• Calculate number of trucks required for the Milling Operation
• Fill out daily trucking reports; monitor throughout the shift and communicate with Superintendent and scale house; add or subtract trucks as needed
• Monitor truck weights throughout the shift with the scale house to ensure proper truck weights
• All Change Orders or Extra Work must be approved by the Project Manager and signed for prior to work being done
• ACCURATELY complete time sheets on HCSS and email DAILY. Information to include Daily Diary with stations, locations as well as any challenges, Crew and Equipment time. All billable items should be listed and be sure TMC is billing and paid for all work rendered
• Fill out and track all milling teeth on appropriate report daily
• Fill out Equipment Condition Report daily
• Be sure assigned equipment is properly maintained and kept clean at all times
• Report any necessary equipment repairs to the Shop Superintendent as soon as they become known
• Make sure all equipment is parked in a safe area in a neat and orderly fashion and accessible to transports. Know and understand the clear zone requirements. Place Type 2 barricades if needed making sure the equipment is not a hazard
• If there are issues with a Team Member, suspend the Team Member until it is discussed with the Operations Manager. Terminations are done by Senior Management ONLY
• Be sure all equipment is fueled, filled with water and necessary teeth are replaced at the end of shift
• Inspect the project daily, prior to departing, to ensure work is complete with the highest quality and all cleanup is complete
• All Accidents/Incidents MUST be reported immediately to your supervisor and the Safety Department
• Other duties as assigned


• Minimum of 2 years Milling experience
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
