[Field Engineer] Field Engineer - Ghent, KY

The Field Engineer helps plan, direct and execute field work for construction and maintenance projects.

Must have open availability to travel to and work at any location and potentially be away from home for extended periods of time. May be required to work non-standard shifts, any time any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Employment is “at will” and subject to change depending on departmental needs.

• Manages job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing
• Anticipates potential problems and proactively resolves them using independent judgment and innovation in finding solutions
• Studies and understands the project specifications, procedures, and relevant portions of the Contract
• Participates in schedule reviews with the Project engineers and Project Managers as appropriate to ensure schedule accuracy and validity requirements are met
• Provides technical support in construction planning, quality control, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and constructability reviews to ensure successful job completion
• Work within company policies (including Safety and Human Resources policies), client policy and OSHA safety requirements.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of local, state and federal statutes and guidelines
• Miscellaneous duties as directed

• Must have 2+ years' experience in construction field engineering
• Must have Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, Operations or related field
• Technical background a plus
• Working knowledge of turnover department software
• Working knowledge of records management software
• Strong background and knowledge of management and construction of large industrial projects
• Completion of pre-hire and post-hire substance abuse testing as required by company and/or client.
• Completion of Safety related certifications such as OSHA 10 or Safety council programs as required by company and/or client.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be computer literate and able to utilize Microsoft Office applications
• Attention to detail and accuracy are essential
• Travel is required

• Stand or walk for long periods of time
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
• Frequently lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects with tools and equipment
• Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
• Acceptable visual acuity for near, far and color - naturally or with correction
• Eye-hand coordination
• Good physical fitness
• Good sense of balance
• Work at great heights is required

• Rain Coat or Poncho.
• Steel toed or Composite toed Work Boots.
• Safety protection required by work, job site and customer

Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, loud noise or dangerous machinery. Some workers may be exposed to lead based paint, asbestos, or other hazardous substances during their work especially when working in confined spaces. To avoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing/personal protective equipment such as gloves, hard hats, protective chemical suits, and devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system and hearing. While working in underground construction, workers must be especially alert to safely follow procedures and must deal with a variety of hazards.
