Position summary

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time BRIDGE/STRUCTURES MAINTENANCE MANAGER to manage asset management operations on comprehensive roadway maintenance project(s) in Florida and Virginia. This position requires performing a wide range of maintenance structural engineering responsibilities on new and existing asset maintenance and roadway services AM/O&M contracts related to planning work, scheduling/managing crews, structural repair analysis, preparing bridge report submissions, interfacing with government Clients and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures. It is preferred, but not required to have a technical background in bridge maintenance or structural engineering. The ideal candidate must have proven experience as a leader working in an ever-changing environment, meticulous organizational skills, adaptive and analytical problem-solving capabilities, and abilities to effectively create functional teams. The position requires the candidate to work in a unique environment both in the office, out on the project site (among field crews), and within professional, organized meetings. Successful candidates for this position have a drive to develop their careers, create strong teams, and can remain focused in rapidly changing environments.

Work Environment

Project Field (60%): Outside environment around highway/facility infrastructure

Client Office (10%): Government-style professional offices within near proximity to project office

Construction/Maintenance Offices (15%): Project office compatible with industry-standard for construction field offices

Divisional Project Sites (5%): Multiple sites through region and U.S.

Remote/Home Office (10%): Occasional job duties performed remotely at residence

  • Lead structural maintenance operations on roadway including assessment and repair
  • Manage structural and technical field assessments on roadway bridges, sign structures, and lighting structures
  • Coordinate financial planning and project budget projections that will assist senior managers
  • Tracking/reporting structure maintenance contract performance relative to plan, contract, and company targets
  • Work with Managers to develop short-term and long-term structural repair and maintenance repair plans
  • Perform technical analyses to improve crew work efficiency and maintenance repairs
  • Coordinate subcontractors, inspection firms, and vendors for all structural asset repairs and inspections.

Required Experience

  • Highly efficient organizational skills in a multi-faceted long-term project environment
  • Minimum 10 years experience with structures maintenance, structures engineering, asset management, team leadership, or direct client-facing responsibilities
  • Ability to rapidly develop a competent understanding of technical roadway maintenance specifications
  • Ability to lead, direct, and manage field maintenance crews and office staff
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
  • Effective communicator at all professional levels
  • Ability to manage project field emergencies 24/7
  • Ability to analyze field accomplishment data and prepare reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term contract budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and revenue analysis
  • Bachelors Degree: engineering, construction project management or related
  • Competent understanding of roadway maintenance and repair specifications

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with DOT contract operations
  • Roadway bridge and structure design engineering
  • Civil Engineering/field operations professional experience
  • Military/Veteran leadership experience
  • Technical experience with earthworks, landscaping, road construction, bridge maintenance, stormwater drainage maintenance


  • High School Diploma, ABET College Engineering Degree
  • Knowledge of administrative activities

  • Dependable and highly organized with business and maturity, discretion, enthusiasm, and positive attitude
  • Ability to travel within State (up to 25%) and occasionally outside State

Employment Type and Compensation

Full-time, usually 5 days a week with some weekend and nighttime work possible. Must be flexible and available to respond to emergency-related weather events and client emergencies.
