Position Title: Journeyman Electrician
Location: North Slope, Alaska
Company Overview: CONAM Construction is a full service general contractor headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. Supporting Oil & Gas and Mining industries with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Maintenance Services. CONAM is currently hiring for the multi-year Pikka Facilities Installation project on the North Slope.
Overview: As a Journeyman Electrician in the oil and gas industry on a North Slope project in Alaska, you will be pivotal in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, ensuring adherence to NPFA 70E standards and regulations. Your role will be integral in guaranteeing the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, in strict compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NPFA 70E regulations.
2. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to enhance the reliability and longevity of electrical equipment, while ensuring all activities align with safety protocols.
3. Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine layout and installation procedures, adhering to NPFA 70 standards throughout.
4. Collaborate closely with other trades and project stakeholders to coordinate electrical work within project timelines and ensure seamless integration with broader project objectives.
5. Uphold stringent safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment for both you and fellow team members, always demonstrating a commitment to NPFA 70E safety standards.
6. Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including comprehensive maintenance logs and detailed equipment documentation, in line with NPFA 70 requirements.
7. Steadfast commitment to NPFA 70 standards throughout all operations.
Required Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
2. Journeyman Electrician certification issued by the State of Alaska, along with a strong understanding of NPFA 70 standards.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Journeyman Electrician in the oil and gas industry, preferably in Arctic or cold climate environments, with a focus on NPFA 70 compliance.
4. Proficient in electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair, ensuring strict adherence to NPFA 70 regulations throughout.
5. Thorough understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards, including NEC and NFPA, with a specific emphasis on NPFA 70E safety requirements.
6. Ability to effectively read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, ensuring NPFA 70 guidelines are rigorously followed in all installations and repairs.
7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other team members, emphasizing NFPA 70 and NPFA 70E compliance in all project-related communications.
8. Physical capability to work in extreme weather conditions and lift heavy equipment/materials as needed, while consistently prioritizing adherence to NPFA 70E safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry Certification, coupled with specialized training in NPFA 70E standards and practices.
2. Hazardous Locations (HAZLOC) certification, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of electrical safety in potentially hazardous environments.
3. Extensive experience with electrical systems in hazardous environments, such as Class I, Division 1 areas, always ensuring full compliance with NPFA 70 standards.
4. Familiarity with specialized equipment utilized in Arctic construction projects, including winterized electrical systems designed to meet NPFA 70E requirements.
5. Additional training or certifications related to electrical safety, first aid, or environmental awareness, with a demonstrated commitment to NPFA 70E compliance in all activities.
Work Environment:
� The position is based on the North Slope of Alaska, with exposure to extreme weather conditions, remote work sites, and potentially hazardous environments.
� May require working in confined spaces, at heights, and with heavy machinery.
� This position may require working on a rotational schedule (e.g., two weeks on, two weeks off / three weeks on, three weeks off / four weeks on, two weeks off, or similar) and/or extended shifts to accommodate project requirements and weather conditions on the North Slope. Typical work week consists of 11.5 hours per day x 7 days per week.
� Required to take and pass pre-employment drug test, background check, and Fit-For-Duty exam.
