Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Radiological Control Technician opportunity in Las Vegas, NV for the US Department of Energy’s Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).

Work Location: Work activities shall be conducted at either the DOE-EMNV facilities located in Las Vegas, NV and associated field facilities and sites located at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The field office is located in Mercury, Nevada with specific field activities sites located up to 40 miles from this location. The preponderance of work will be conducted in the field with occasional support at the Las Vegas location for client meetings or other activities as directed.
Work Schedule: 40-hour work week , 4 days per week, Monday – Thursday with the possibility of an occasional overtime (OT) day on Fridays and/or Saturdays

Scope of Work:
The Radiological Control Technician (RCT) provides radiological monitoring and technical support for work involving exposure to ionizing radiation and/or radioactive materials in support of characterization, decommissioning, demolition, and environmental restoration of hazardous and radioactive material sites.

All RadCon personnel should be qualified to ANSI 3.1 or have a current DOE Core card. All work defined in this Statement of Work (SOW) shall be performed under the direction and guidelines of the Company Safety Management Policies.

Personnel will be required to work indoors/outdoors in extreme temperatures (Southern Nevada climate) and will be required to work in radiologically controlled areas throughout the Company's facilities.

General Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
Under limited supervision has the ability to perform work, monitor working conditions, and remains cognizant of the current radiological status of work locations.
Knowledge of radiological safety topics as established in 10 CFR 835.
Completion of biennial requalification training which includes written examination, performance demonstrations and oral board.
Ability to perform pre-job radiological briefings to field staff.

Specific Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
Implements the requirements of Radiological Work Permits (RWPs), the Nevada National Security Site Radiological Control Manual, procedures and related work control documents
Provides advice and technical support to project staff in the area of worker radiological safety and applied radiological controls
Provide the maintenance of accurate records of radiological survey efforts and radiological conditions
Keeps the Radiological Services Manager updated on the status of work activities and related radiological conditions
Takes immediate action to respond to radiological off-normal conditions and to stabilize the situation
Participates in the planning of radiological work
Must have or be able to obtain Department of Transportation certification to drive hazardous materials
Maintains the knowledge and skill needed to maintain U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) NNSS RCT qualification

Qualifications:
High school education or equivalency
Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science
Reading, writing, and comprehension
Fundamental computer skills, i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, email, etc.
Valid driver’s license
3-5 years of related industry experience preferred
Minimum 2 years’ experience at a U.S. Department of Energy facility performing radiological control activities as a DOE qualified RCT
Current DOE Core Academics Qualification

Working Conditions:
Work will be conducted in the field where physical effort may be required, up to and not limited to lifting, bending, reaching, standing and walking for long periods of time.
Overtime may be required to complete assigned task.
When working at the DOE-EMNV facilities located in Las Vegas, the work is sedentary
Physical Qualifications include the ability to:
pass a medical examination to drive, handle or respond to incidents involving hazardous materials
wear personal protective clothing and equipment
wear respiratory protection
lift 50 pounds
work in hazardous waste areas
perform extended sitting, bending, kneeling, and walking
work in remote locations
work in extreme weather conditions; wind, rain, and snow, i.e. outdoor temperatures > 115 F and < 0 F
