[NDT/NDE Technician] Level II NDT Technician (Local to the Houston area)

Position Summary:

VIP is seeking a skilled Level II NDT Technician with proven experience in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Shear Wave Testing (UTSW), and Dimensional Inspection (DIM). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing nondestructive testing in accordance with company procedures, customer specifications, and applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform NDT inspections using MT, PT, VT, and UTSW techniques on a variety of materials and welds.
Conduct accurate dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
Interpret, evaluate, and document test results in accordance with acceptance criteria and applicable standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
Prepare and maintain clear, accurate inspection reports and documentation.
Ensure inspections are performed in compliance with approved procedures, codes, and safety guidelines.
Support the development of work instructions and setup of inspection areas.
Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and quality teams to ensure part and weld integrity.
Maintain NDT equipment, perform calibrations, and ensure tools are in proper working condition.
Participate in audits, internal quality reviews, and training activities as required.
Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED is required; technical training or associate degree in NDT or a related field is preferred.

Certification to Level II in MT, PT, VT, UTSW required per ASNT SNT-TC-1A with OJT hours.

Minimum 3�5 years of hands-on NDT experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or field environments.

Proven experience in Dimensional Inspection and use of precision measuring instruments.

Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ASTM).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Physically capable of standing for long periods, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces or at heights.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with digital reporting systems.

Experience with customers or third-party inspection

Valid driver�s license and ability to travel to job sites, if required.


Work Environment:

Shop and field-based environments (indoor/outdoor).

Potential exposure to heat, cold, noise, and industrial hazards.

Proper PPE must be worn at all times.
