Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Registered Nurse opportunity at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL.
Work Schedule:
This will be a temporary/part time position who will only be needed as the other medical staff is on PTO or unable to come to the site. Candidate needs to be able to work day shift or night shift (primary) and overtime if needed. This will not be consistent hours, only on an as needed basis.
Position Summary:
Provides and/or monitors the medical and first-aid treatment programs on projects or facilities. Performs nursing duties in accordance with medical directives approved by the consulting physician and local governing agencies.
Responsibilities:
Receives technical direction from the Clinical Team lead or as specified by the Project ES&H Manager. Receives functional direction from the Manager of Medical Services.
Provide occupational, primary, and emergency medical services to all Project personnel. Possess the critical skills and relevant current training to deliver emergency, routine medical care and follow up.
Evaluates injuries and/or illnesses which require the services of a physician or hospital and makes referrals as necessary.
Ensures clinic is managed according to the highest quality standards (industry best practices) and complies with applicable local / regional health standards.
Sustains a working relationship with the project’s offsite medical provider/facility.
Answers and responds to project emergency calls from the field and site office trailer locations.
Ensures medical equipment is in working order and properly maintained.
Experience in performing drug and alcohol testing. Performs drug and alcohol testing
Coordinates stocking and control of medications and medical supplies.
Establishes and maintains first aid/medical records and prepares related reports as defined in applicable core process.
Dispenses medication in accordance with project medical directives
Maintains first aid/medical records and prepares related reports as defined in applicable core process
Facilitates the Project’s “Return to Work” Program
Perform other ES&H duties/training as required
Qualifications:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida or reciprocity through compact licensure, or ability to become licensed through reciprocity or permanent application.
Registered nurse with five or more years prior practicing nursing experience, including previous and related experience in the construction field or occupational health nursing.
Previous experience in an occupational health setting or military medicine.
Currently practicing as an RN.
Be current in Basic Life Support protocols.
Experience in either emergency medicine, triage, combat/military, or ICU.
Experience in implementing well-being programs / mental health well-being programs.
Preferable to have current mental health first aid certification.
Knowledge of medical reporting and record keeping requirements.
Strong communication and computer skills including knowledge of MS 365 Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, Etc.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of project team.
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances.
Additional Information:
Must be able to attend a one-week project specific orientation prior to providing RN coverage
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift or split shift including weekends.
Physical ability to perform the following activities:
walking in and around a construction site
occasional climbing ladders and scaffolding
Lifting upwards to 50 pounds may be required
Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task
