How you’ll contribute…
Boyd Jones is seeking a Party Survey Chief for our renewable projects. This role is responsible for managing survey crews, coordinating layout activities, ensuring accuracy of field measurements, and maintaining compliance with project plans, design specifications, and QA/QC standards. The ideal candidate has prior experience in EPC utility-scale solar projects and a strong understanding of civil/site layout, grading, and structural foundations.

Key Responsibilities…
Lead and supervise all site survey activities including layout, staking, and as-built verification for solar farm construction.
Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and survey reference systems in accordance with project requirements.
Interpret civil, structural, and electrical drawings to provide accurate field layout for pile driving, racking, modules, inverters, and underground utilities.
Perform topographic and boundary surveys as needed to support site development.
Manage and train survey crew members, ensuring adherence to project safety and quality standards.
Coordinate survey activities with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, and Subcontractors to avoid conflicts and maintain construction schedules.
Maintain detailed records of survey data, as-builts, and field adjustments for turnover packages.
Ensure calibration, proper care, and use of survey instruments (GPS, Total Stations, Data Collectors, Drones, etc.).
Verify subcontractor layout and provide oversight to ensure compliance with design and tolerances.
Support QA/QC teams by verifying foundation locations, elevations, and alignments prior to construction.
What you’ll bring…
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of survey experience with at least 2+ years as a Surveyor on EPC or utility-scale solar projects.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Trimble, Leica, Topcon, or equivalent GPS/Total Station systems.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil construction, solar farm layouts, grading, pile foundations, and utility installation.
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
Certifications: Licensed Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is a plus.
Other: Ability to travel and work at remote project sites; strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
