Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Operations Manager opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven and strategic Operations Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations for a high-precision industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear sector. This role is responsible for overseeing production, scheduling, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex manufacturing programs in highly regulated environments and a strong understanding of NQA-1 and DOE/NRC requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and execution
Ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards (NQA-1), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and program management to meet project milestones and deliverables
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality
Oversee staffing, training, and performance management of production teams
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare operational reports for senior leadership
Support audits, inspections, and customer reviews with accurate documentation and operational transparency
Manage budgets, resource allocation, and capital equipment planning
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Experience in the nuclear, aerospace, or defense industries
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications
Strong knowledge of NQA-1, DOE, and NRC regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex production schedules
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Operations
Experience with complex systems or high-speed rotating equipment
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production control tools
Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects
Other Job Requirements:
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
