Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Crane Operator to safely and efficiently operate a 110-ton (or similar) hydraulic / rough terrain crane. The successful candidate will perform lifts, move heavy loads, rig equipment, carry out pre-lift inspections and equipment maintenance, and work closely with rigging crews and site personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and maneuver a 110-ton hydraulic/RT crane following manufacturer load-charts and site lift plans.
Conduct daily inspections of the crane and rigging gear (cables, slings, shackles, hooks, etc).
Verify load weights, ground conditions, crane configuration (outriggers, boom length), and ensure safe lift capacities.
Coordinate with riggers, signal persons, ground crew and site supervision to execute lifts in accordance with safety protocols.
Maintain accurate logs of crane operation, inspections, maintenance and lift details.
Perform routine maintenance and minor mechanical checks (lubrication, fluid levels, greasing, etc).
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards (OSHA, ASME, company policy) and participate in safety meetings.
Assist in assembling/disassembling crane when required.
Maintain housekeeping around crane, ensure safe conditions and proper storage of gear.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Certification from National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) or equivalent for mobile/hydraulic/RT cranes. WorkScreen+2VelvetJobs+2
Proven experience operating hydraulic mobile or rough terrain cranes in the ~100 ton+ class.
Strong knowledge of load charts, rigging, crane capacities, and hydraulics.
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (depending on transport responsibilities).
Ability to perform pre-use inspections, interpret manufacturer load charts, and recognize defects or malfunctions.
Good communication skills — to coordinate with rigging crew, spotters, supervisors.
Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, climb in/out of cab, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Clean driving record, ability to pass drug & background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience specifically with a 110 ton rough terrain crane. (For example, a model like the Terex RT 110 with 110 US ton capacity. Terex+1)
Prior experience in heavy civil or industrial construction settings.
Familiarity with maintenance/troubleshooting of hydraulic crane systems.
