Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing corrective, preventive, and planned maintenance activities to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a thermal energy storage power generation facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining plant availability during commissioning and early operations by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
The Maintenance Technician works closely with the Maintenance Manager and operations team to diagnose equipment issues, support maintenance planning and inventory control efforts, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. This position requires strong hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform mechanical and/or electrical maintenance on plant equipment to support safe, reliable operations.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, including work in high-temperature industrial environments.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble pumps, fans, gearboxes, and mechanical systems; replace worn components such as bearings, seals, gaskets, and belts.
• Support maintenance of thermal modules and associated systems, including equipment removal, rebuilds, and reassembly.
• Execute corrective maintenance and support preventive maintenance activities, including troubleshooting and procedure development.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating data to identify and address maintenance issues.
• Support mechanical installations, retrofits, piping modifications, and equipment improvements.
• Follow all maintenance clearance, LOTO, and safety procedures at all times.
• Coordinate with maintenance leadership and peers to resolve technical issues and meet work priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians as required.
• Support inventory control, parts requisitioning, and maintenance documentation.
Job Requirements:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience performing maintenance in industrial, power generation, or heavy process facilities.
• Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, valves, seals, shaft alignment, and fluid systems.
• Experience working in environments involving hazardous energy, chemicals, and high-temperature systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of safe work practices, including LOTO and hazardous energy control.
• Ability to work independently on critical tasks where errors may have significant consequences.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex mechanical or equipment issues.
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support peers and site objectives.
Education / Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical, vocational, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Multi-discipline maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, and/or I&C) preferred.
