Senior Project Manager
Work Location: Rigging project in Richland, WA.
Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate's requested rate
Hours: Full Time 40 (4 days / 10 hr day)
Duration: Long Term (w/option to go direct after 6 months, if desired)
Per diem: $216.00/day (7 days per week)
Mob / Demob: $500 each way ($1,000 total)
Position Details: The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and oversight of all heavy lifting and rigging operations within the nuclear construction site.
Required Duties:
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance - Lead nuclear safety culture initiatives, ensure compliance with nuclear regulations and ASME/ANSI lifting standards, conduct pre-lift safety briefings, and manage radiological safety considerations.
• Heavy Lift Planning & Engineering - Review and approve all lift plans (standard, complex, and critical), ensure proper crane selection and load calculations, coordinate with engineering teams and nuclear oversight bodies.
• Execution & On-Site Supervision - Direct day-to-day heavy lift operations, supervise crane operators, riggers, and subcontractor teams, monitor nuclear hold/witness points, and verify environmental and radiological conditions.
• Quality Assurance & Documentation - Maintain QA documentation per NQA-1 standards, ensure traceability and certification of all lifting gear, review inspection reports and corrective actions.
• Stakeholder & Contractor Management - Serve as primary interface between EPC, subcontractors, engineering, and site management, coordinate schedules with master project plan, evaluate contractor performance.
• Personnel Competence & Training - Verify certification and training of all heavy lifting personnel, ensure nuclear-specific induction and procedural compliance training, mentor field teams.
• Risk Management - Identify and mitigate risks associated with critical lifts, lead incident investigations with root-cause analysis, implement lessons learned, ensure emergency preparedness and lift recovery plans.
• Reporting & Communication - Provide daily reports on lift progress and safety findings, communicate deviations to senior management and regulatory bodies, maintain clear communication channels across all functions.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
• Advanced degree or professional certifications preferred
Experience:
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in heavy lifting and rigging operations
• At least 5 years in nuclear construction or other highly regulated industries (petrochemical, pharmaceutical, aerospace)
• Proven track record managing complex, critical lift operations
• Experience with EPC contractors and large-scale construction projects
Certifications & Licenses:
• Certified Crane Supervisor or equivalent (NCCCO, LEEA, or similar)
• Nuclear facility training and radiological worker certification (or ability to obtain)
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
• Lift Director or Lift Superintendent certification preferred
Technical Knowledge:
• Expert knowledge of ASME B30 series, ANSI standards, and nuclear lifting requirements
• Proficiency in NQA-1 quality assurance programs
• Understanding of nuclear safety culture and 10 CFR regulatory requirements
• Experience with lift planning software and engineering analysis tools
• Knowledge of crane types, capacities, rigging hardware, and load dynamics

• Ability to work in high-pressure, safety-critical environments
• Proficient in risk assessment and mitigation strategies

Physical Requirements: Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 - 60 lbs.
