Key Project Requirements:

• Proficiency in SMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and FCAW welding processes
• Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steels in high-temperature/pressure service

Job Summary:
NAES is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Welder to support maintenance, repair, and plant improvement activities at an industrial energy facility in Big Stone, South Dakota. This role is primarily responsible for performing high-quality, code-compliant welding and metal fabrication work to support the reliability, safety, and structural integrity of plant systems and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead Perform code-compliant welding on piping, pressure parts, ductwork, structural steel, and plant equipment
• Execute SMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and FCAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials
• Fabricate and repair components from drawings, isometrics, or field measurements
• Prepare and finish welds using cutting, grinding, beveling, and forming tools
• Interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and welding symbols to ensure proper fit-up and weld quality
• Support plant maintenance, repairs, outages, and reliability improvement activities
• Maintain documentation and traceability for weld procedures, repairs, and materials used
• Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures, including hot work, confined space, and LOTO requirements
Job Requirements:
• Strong working knowledge of industrial welding, fabrication, and mechanical maintenance practices
• Ability to safely operate cutting, grinding, and forming tools (plasma cutters, torches, bevelers, etc.)
• Solid understanding of industrial safety practices, including fire watch, gas testing, and confined space entry
• Ability to work independently on critical tasks where errors could have significant operational impact
• Willingness to respond to callouts and work extended or irregular hours as required by plant operations
Education / Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Technical or vocational training in welding or industrial maintenance strongly preferred
• Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on industrial welding and fabrication experience
• Experience in power generation, industrial manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilities preferred
