Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Fellow Nuclear Safety Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.
Work Location: Aiken, SC
Fellow Nuclear Safety Engineer-
Duties:
Provide technical assistance in developing and reviewing nuclear safety documents and analyses, technical safety requirements, and related technical support documentation.
Ensure that the developed nuclear safety documentation complies with requirements and as necessary, applicable controls are implemented in field procedures.
Conduct Nuclear Safety Program assessments and maintain program manuals.
Support the development, review, and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site.
Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields and use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems.
Apply advanced technical practices and complex requirements in program planning and problem solving.
Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
Prepare reports for external publication.
Required Responsibilities:
Must perform work safely and be proficient in performing Nuclear Safety Program assessments.
Must demonstrate proficiency in developing and providing safety basis inputs to facility/project schedules, while meeting deadlines and budgets.
Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 420.1, DOE STDs 3009, 1186, 1189 and related directives and standards.
Education/Yrs. of Experience:
An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about ten (10) years' experience OR a MS degree and twelve (12) years' experience OR a BS degree and approximately fifteen (15) years' experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated previous SRS nuclear safety engineering experience.
Fifteen years of relevant experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining safety basis documents and safety basis support documents.
Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
