Talascend is currently seeking a Geotechnical Field Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Overview

The position involves providing full-time field support during earthworks operations at a large-scale project site, requiring strong technical supervision, coordination with multiple disciplines, and hands-on involvement in geotechnical investigations and earthwork activities.

Responsibilities

On-site technical supervision of earthworks activities
Support soil and/or rock excavations
Implement engineering specifications and drawings for earthworks and soil excavation support
Prepare or review technical memos, reports, and geotechnical studies
Review vendor submittals and incorporate information into the design solution
Execute work in accordance with schedule while maintaining high quality standards
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and execution

Qualifications

Master's degree in geotechnical engineering or related discipline from an accredited university
11+ years of progressive related experience in the field
Advanced knowledge of earthworks, including cold weather best practices
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Knowledge of site and subsurface investigation, foundation design and analysis, earthwork designs, and slope stability analysis
Familiarity with industry guides, codes, and standards
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience with geotechnical software such as Slope/W, Plaxis, and Microsoft Office programs
Demonstrable experience working on earthworks for large-scale projects

Preferred Qualifications

Registered Geotechnical Professional Engineer (P.E.) or equivalent
Related experience in geotechnics applied to earthworks design and construction
Knowledge of relevant geotechnical software and construction practices
