Job Title: HVAC Sheet Metal Technician
Job Description
This role involves installing ductwork and sheet metal on a large industrial project, with a focus on rooftop units, curb installations, and various sizes of duct systems. You will work primarily with HVAC equipment, reading blueprints, laying out systems, and performing hands-on installation while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. This position offers steady hours, overtime opportunities, and daily travel per diem for eligible travelers.
Responsibilities
Layout and install sheet metal and duct systems on an industrial construction project.
Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine precise locations for ductwork, sheet metal, rooftop units, curbs, and related HVAC components.
Assist with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment, including ductwork, sheet metal, rooftop units (RTUs), curbs, louvers, and hangers.
Set rooftop equipment and curbs safely and accurately according to project plans.
Rig and position ductwork, sheet metal, and rooftop units using appropriate tools and methods.
Maintain all tools and equipment in good working order and ensure that required maintenance is performed in a timely manner.
Follow all OSHA and company safety standards at all times while on the job site.
Offload deliveries and load trucks at job sites, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently.
Use hand and power tools, including impact drills and sockets, to complete installations to specification.
Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete tasks on schedule and to quality standards.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience installing louvers, setting rooftop equipment, rigging, and working with ductwork and sheet metal in an HVAC or industrial construction environment.
Proficiency in laying out and installing sheet metal and duct systems based on blueprints and specifications.
Demonstrated experience setting curbs, hanging ductwork, installing sheet metal, and setting rooftop units.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine the placement of curbs, ductwork, sheet metal, and rooftop units.
OSHA 10 certification or higher, or the ability to obtain it before starting.
Strong understanding of HVAC installation practices and safety procedures.
Ability to use and maintain personal hand tools, including wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vise grips, impact drill, 9/16" sockets with impact adapter, and screwdrivers.
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to and from job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyman card in a relevant trade is preferred.
Experience working on industrial construction or expansion projects.
Familiarity with rigging practices for rooftop units and large HVAC components.
Comfort working overtime and occasional Saturdays as project needs require.
Ability to pass standard pre-employment screenings as required by the project.

Work Environment
This position is based on an industrial expansion project with a structured schedule, typically Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00–6:30 a.m. to 2:30–3:30 p.m., with Saturday shifts commonly running from early morning to midday. Work takes place on active construction sites, often at heights and around heavy equipment, where adherence to OSHA and site safety standards is mandatory. You will use standard HVAC and sheet metal tools, including hand tools and impact drills, and will be expected to provide and use your own personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with site requirements. The role is physically demanding and involves standing, lifting, climbing, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Assignments are expected to run at least through July, with potential for longer duration based on performance and project needs.
