Fire Sprinkler Systems Designer / Consultant

Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Fire Sprinkler Systems Designers / Consultants to join our team. This role will support a high-priority project at a large semiconductor manufacturing facility in North Phoenix through design consulting, technical reviews, and field oversight. The position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and excellent client collaboration skills.The successful candidate will lead or contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of automatic sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and related water-based suppression systems while ensuring full compliance with codes, standards, and project needs.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical Oversight
Lead the design and layout of automatic fire sprinkler systems for complex facilities in accordance with applicable standards and project specifications.
Prepare fire suppression system specifications for water-based protection systems.
Perform and review hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, system sizing, and fire pump/controller designs.
Review, evaluate, and prepare sprinkler, fire pump, and special suppression system shop drawings and submittal packages.
Project Execution & Field Activities
Serve as the primary technical representative for fire protection systems during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Conduct field surveys, site inspections, and regular walkthroughs to verify installation quality and code compliance.
Support system testing, commissioning, acceptance, and on-site issue resolution, including witnessing tests and providing code interpretations.
Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) for permitting, plan reviews, and approvals.
Collaboration & Project Management
Deliver technical consulting and guidance to clients, project managers, contractors, architects, and engineers.
Manage fire protection engineering activities with active contractor engagement.
Review and assess contractor bids, change orders, and related costs for fire protection scopes.
Prepare and deliver clear technical reports and recommendations to clients.
Compliance & Team Development
Participate in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews to maintain high standards and code compliance.
Mentor and support junior designers, engineers, and consultants in their professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in fire protection system design or consulting, with strong focus on automatic sprinkler systems and fire pump design.
Proficiency with industry design and calculation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or equivalent software.
Preferred Qualifications
NICET certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (Level II or higher strongly preferred).
Solid knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 25.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including technical report writing.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
