Tradesmen International is hiring Advanced Shipfitters for long term, shipyard work in Newport News, VA! We offer not only long term work, but PTO, medical and health benefits, 401k and much more!

Must have 4 years of shipyard experience as a 1st class shipfitter, be able to pass a hair follicle and a lifetime background.

Pay: $45/hr and $140 per diem (must be 75 miles from the job site)
Local rate: $55 and no per diem.

Required Skills & Qualifications for Advanced Shipfitters:

Four years of commercial or naval experience as a first class Shipfitter
Must be able to pass a Multi-Pass Tack Welder Qualification Test
Ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines
Burning-Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch.
Heating-Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.
Ability to comprehend fractional dimensions as with the use of a ruler.
Ability to layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
Ability to assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.
Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.).
Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.
Use vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns).
Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
Ability to use Work Packages and Drawings to plan and execute work.
Ability to use Molded Lines and Ship Reference Lines to execute required work.
Ability to Erect, Set and Makeup Complex-shaped Shell Plates.
Ability to Erect, Set and Makeup Decks, Bulkheads, Longitudinals, trunks, etc:,
Ability to Install and Replace Hull Inserts and Penetrations, Ability to Install Miscellaneous and Complex Foundations.

Be a US citizen
Able to speak, read and understand the English language
Able to pass a criminal background investigation
Able to pass a hair follicle drug test (HFT)
Must be able to work any shift
