Talascend is currently seeking Mechanical Conveyor Installers for a contract opportunity located in Fort Wayne, IN.

$24hr- $90 a day per diem

OVERVIEW:

Crew will be going onsite to modify the existing conveyor system to support a new bin size and improve tracking as product moves through the system. This work has two main components:

Column Modifications for New Bin Size
The current conveyor columns/guides were built for former bin dimension.
Crew will be replacing column components (guides, supports, brackets) to properly accommodate the new bin width/height.

The goal is to ensure:
Bins travel smoothly without binding or shifting
Proper alignment is maintained throughout the conveyor path
Adequate clearance is in place to prevent jams or damage

What to expect:
Measuring and verifying new bin dimensions onsite
Removing or repositioning existing hardware
Installing updated guide rails or column extensions
Checking spacing consistency across all lanes/machines

Sensor Installation for Bin Detection
Crew will be adding sensors along the conveyor to detect and track bins as they pass key points.

These sensors will help the system:
Identify bin presence
Trigger downstream actions (routing, scanning, or counting)
Improve overall system visibility and efficiency

What to expect:
Mounting sensors at designated locations on the conveyor frame or columns
Aligning sensors to ensure accurate reads (line of sight and distance are critical)
Running and securing cabling back to control panels or junction points
Coordinating with controls/PLC team for testing and integration

Testing & Validation
After install, crew will:
Run bins through the system to confirm smooth travel
Verify sensors are detecting consistently
Make any needed adjustments to alignment or positioning

PPE: Hi-vis Vest, Safety Shoes and Hardhat required
Gloves, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection are recommended.
