Talascend is currently seeking an Environmental Safety and Health Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Overview

This role involves assisting with the development and implementation of process improvement efforts related to environmental, safety, and health tasks, with a focus on incident investigation, root cause analysis, and data reporting. The specialist will support various project activities, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in ES&H performance on a large lithium resource development project.

Responsibilities

Coordinate a wide range of environmental, safety, and health disciplines to facilitate implementation of the ES&H program and management system
Develop and lead incident investigation and root cause analysis programs
Assist in maintaining ES&H databases, including incident data, audit findings, and corrective actions
Perform statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and recommend improvements
Lead risk assessments, mitigation planning, and monitoring related to ES&H issues
Prepare reports, communications, and documentation for program execution and record keeping
Coordinate incident notifications, lead investigations, and prepare investigation reports
Conduct root cause analysis using tools like 5-Why, Why Tree, and Barrier Analysis
Participate in or lead employee training on incident investigation and emergency preparedness
Research and interpret regulatory requirements and provide technical advice
Support ES&H field and office personnel across disciplines
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree related to environmental, safety, health, education, or a science-related discipline
8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of work experience in lieu of a degree
Strong experience in project construction and safety standards
Knowledge of environmental and health construction standards
Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis, with familiarity of standard tools and methodologies
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to develop reports and presentations
Experience in training and instructional delivery is preferred
Knowledge of learning and development systems, automation methods, and computer applications for process improvement
Knowledge of investigation report drafting, training, and communication tools
Familiarity with project-specific incident investigation processes is preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required
