Electrician / Fire Alarm Installer
Job Description
Position Summary
The Electrician / Fire Alarm Installer is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing electrical systems and fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This role ensures all work complies with local, state, and national electrical and fire safety codes.

Key Responsibilities

Install, program, test, and service fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, pull stations, and notification devices
Run conduit, wiring, and cabling for electrical and alarm systems
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Perform system inspections and troubleshooting to identify faults and ensure proper operation
Conduct routine maintenance and system upgrades
Test alarm systems to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and local regulations
Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and inspectors
Maintain accurate documentation of installations, inspections, and repairs
Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards
Provide customer support and explain system functionality when needed


Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED (required)
Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience
Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and fire alarm systems
Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA standards
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman or Master Electrician license (preferred but not always required)
NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level I–III preferred)
Experience with major fire alarm brands (e.g., Honeywell, Simplex, Notifier, Siemens)
Prior commercial or industrial installation experience

Attention to detail and safety awareness
Physical ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Time management and ability to work independently


Work Environment

Work performed at various job sites (construction sites, commercial buildings, etc.)
Exposure to heights, electrical hazards, and outdoor conditions
May require travel and occasional overtime


Typical Schedule

Full-time (40+ hours per week)
May include early mornings, evenings, or emergency service calls
