Overview

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Journeyman Electrician to join a growing team in commercial and industrial settings. In this role, you install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems within commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and industrial environments. You take ownership of projects, apply a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations, and help guide less experienced electricians while delivering high-quality work. You work extensively with electrical distribution systems, motor controls, industrial automation equipment, and complex electrical troubleshooting to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to rigorous quality standards. Responsibilities

* Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment
* Work with:
+ Motors
+ Transformers
+ Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
+ Switchgear
+ Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
* Install, bend, and route conduit systems
* Pull feeders and branch circuits, terminate conductors, and complete panel wiring
* Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and single-line diagrams
* Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve system reliability
* Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues using diagnostic equipment
* Ensure all work meets NEC, OSHA, and NFPA 70E standards
* Collaborate with project teams and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently
* Mentor apprentices and support the development of junior electricians
* Document work performed, materials used, and testing results
* Assist with industrial automation and PLC-related troubleshooting when applicable

Essential Skills

* Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent documented electrical experience
* 4+ years of commercial and/or industrial electrical experience
* Strong knowledge of 3-phase power distribution (120/208V and 277/480V systems)
* Experience installing and troubleshooting motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and VFDs
* Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints
* Experience bending conduit and completing electrical installations independently
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and NFPA 70E standards
* Commitment to safety and quality workmanship

Additional Skills & Qualifications

* Master Electrician license
* PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation experience
* Knowledge of medium-voltage systems
* OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or Arc Flash certifications
* Leadership or foreman experience
* Experience in manufacturing, food processing, distribution, or heavy industrial environments
* Knowledge of building automation systems, instrumentation, or process controls

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mattoon, IL.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
