Electronics Assembler – Cable and Wire Harness

As a Cable Assembler this primary job duties will be to build complex wire cables and assemblies for the customer orders
There will be assembly of cables, copper wire, crimping inserts, stripping wire, etc. Pretty straightforward. Following work instructions.
Details of Assembly:
a. We will get a formal harness and 3-6 connectors on it wires going everywhere in between them. Will be lay down, cut to length, crip insert, etc. Apply various types of tubing to wire and cable. Attach pins/contacts to single wire and multiple conductor cable.
b. Wire cutter, hand crimper, semi-automatic stripping machine where you stick the wire in and does it for you. Form board that is a production aid with work instructions for it. All harnesses will be tested, may have a back wire which once you insert the first end, you touch the second end for testing, and based where you put it in the connector it will tell you if there is a connection. This is a production aid to know where to insert. If you have 20 wires, the first may not matter too much where you put it in as long as you have the 20 wires, but the second end does matter because you already terminated the first end, so it needs to go to the right end. The probe will tell you to go to Position 5, grab the wire and check where it goes like position 12. The probe will touch every contact to know which wire connection it is in.
c. There could be some solder sleeves, but it does not take a solder technician since it does not require the use of a solder iron.
d. Could be a shrink sleeve and heat gun. Hit a foot pedal and it is already preset temperature-wise, but it is a timing deal depending on what you are shrinking. Keep working your way down the cable and entire length of the sleeve.
