Per diem is offered for candidates outside of 100 miles from the Palo Verde plant at $840 a week.

Typical work week is 4x10 hour days, Tuesday thru Friday.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Mechanical to support capital improvement projects, plant modifications, and maintenance initiatives at a commercial nuclear power plant. This role will lead mechanical projects from concept through completion, overseeing engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and closeout while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory and plant requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background with experience managing projects involving piping systems, underground utilities, excavation (dirt work), welding, pipeline installations, structural modifications, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects. The Project Manager will work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, construction contractors, and vendors to successfully execute complex projects in a highly regulated nuclear environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical capital projects from planning and design through construction, testing, startup, and closeout.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams consisting of engineering, construction, maintenance, operations, procurement, and contractor personnel.
• Oversee mechanical projects involving piping systems, pipeline installation, underground utilities, excavation, grading, structural modifications, welding, and mechanical equipment installation.
• Coordinate engineering design reviews, constructability reviews, procurement activities, and field execution.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and cash flow projections.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
• Manage contractors and subcontractors to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Coordinate outage activities and plant work windows to support project implementation.
• Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, plant procedures, ASME codes, quality requirements, and safety standards.
• Review engineering packages, construction work packages, welding procedures, and project documentation.
• Lead project meetings, status reviews, and executive reporting while communicating project performance to stakeholders.
• Manage change control, project documentation, and project closeout activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring adherence to human performance and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience supporting mechanical, construction, industrial, utility, or nuclear projects.
• Strong background in mechanical systems, including piping, welding, pipeline construction, excavation, grading, and heavy industrial construction.
• Experience managing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and contractor performance.
• Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines and stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred (equivalent industry experience will be considered).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• Previous commercial nuclear power plant experience.
• Experience supporting capital projects, plant modifications, equipment upgrades, and outage execution.
• Knowledge of ASME codes, NRC regulations, quality assurance programs, and nuclear work processes.
• Experience working with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Maximo, or other project management software.
• Familiarity with welding procedures, piping specifications, construction drawings, and field engineering practices.
