CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR (CWI) – IMMEDIATE OPENING – WETUMPKA, AL
Southeast Inspections, LLC (SEI) is seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for an immediate quality control assignment in Wetumpka, Alabama.
This is a small project with a small crew consisting of one welder and one fitter. The position is scheduled to begin immediately and continue through the end of September 2026.
We are looking for a dependable, professional CWI who is comfortable working independently, maintaining accurate inspection documentation, and communicating effectively with project personnel.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Certified Welding Inspector will be responsible for providing quality control inspection and documentation for welding activities on the project. Responsibilities may include:
Performing visual inspection of welds and welding activities
Verifying work is performed in accordance with applicable drawings, specifications, procedures, and project requirements
Monitoring fit-up, welding activities, and completed welds
Identifying and documenting nonconforming work when necessary
Maintaining accurate daily inspection reports and quality documentation
Completing electronic reports and submitting required project documentation
Communicating inspection findings with project supervision and other personnel
Supporting overall project quality requirements throughout the assignment
Because this is a small project with only one welder and one fitter, the selected inspector must be comfortable working independently and staying on top of all required QC documentation.
PROJECT INFORMATION
Location: Wetumpka, Alabama
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Duration: Through the end of September 2026
Schedule: 5 days per week, 10-hour shifts
Pay: $55.00 per hour
Overtime: Time and a half after 40 hours
Per Diem: $125 per day
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
Previous welding inspection / quality control experience
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and other project documentation
Strong attention to detail and documentation
Must have good computer skills
Must be comfortable completing electronic inspection reports and other project documentation
Must be dependable, professional, and able to work independently
Must be available to begin work immediately
BACKGROUND CHECK & DRUG SCREEN REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a background check is mandatory for this project and is a condition of employment.
Candidates must be able to successfully pass the required background check before being cleared to start work.
A pre-employment drug screen is also required.
