Data Center Energy Marshal – Mission Critical / LOTO

About the Project
UCP Staffing is immediately seeking experienced Data Center Energy Marshalls to support the energization, commissioning, and testing phase of a major hyperscale data center project in the Des Moines, Iowa area.
This is a senior-level field position in an active mission-critical construction environment. The Energy Marshall will play a critical role in electrical safety, Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and the safe energization of electrical systems.
This is not an entry-level opportunity. Candidates must have the experience and confidence to step onto an active project, understand established site procedures, and immediately work alongside project leadership, electrical contractors, commissioning teams, and safety personnel.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Serve as an on-site resource and authority for Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE) and electrical safety procedures.Manage and verify complex Group Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities involving multiple contractors and work groups.
Support the safe transition from temporary construction power to permanent electrical systems.
Coordinate and oversee energization and commissioning activities involving medium- and high-voltage electrical systems.
Conduct field audits of LOTO stations, lockboxes, energized work areas, electrical PPE, and safe-work practices.
Verify compliance with applicable NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
Establish and verify appropriate shock and arc-flash boundaries.
Review electrical Methods of Procedure (MOPs), energization plans, and related high-risk work documentation.
Coordinate with electrical subcontractors, commissioning teams, superintendents, safety personnel, and project leadership.
Identify unsafe conditions, procedural gaps, or LOTO deficiencies and ensure they are corrected before work proceeds.
Maintain accurate documentation associated with energization, LOTO, and hazardous-energy-control activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of direct Energy Marshall, electrical safety, high-voltage commissioning, or comparable mission-critical experience.
- Previous experience supporting data center construction or commissioning strongly preferred.
- Journeyman-level electrical experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE) programs.
- Advanced experience with Group LOTO and multi-employer safety coordination.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Experience working around medium- and/or high-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to understand electrical one-lines, energization plans, MOPs, and related field documentation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to professionally enforce electrical safety requirements in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Must be able to work in the Des Moines, Iowa area for the full project assignment.

- Hyperscale data centers
- Mission-critical construction
- Semiconductor facilities
- Large industrial facilities
- Power generation
- Electrical commissioning
- Critical power infrastructure

Who We're Looking For
The right candidate is an experienced electrical professional who understands that energization and LOTO on a mission-critical project leave very little room for error.
You should be comfortable working around complex electrical systems, coordinating with multiple contractors, challenging unsafe conditions when necessary, and maintaining strict control of hazardous-energy procedures throughout commissioning activities.
