Job # 4918: Senior Electrical Engineer - Solar PV Power Plant

Responsibilities:
Provide engineering support for designated solar projects. Position will be site located, and may require travel between multiple project sites. This position serves as the company’s primary interface for EPC contractor’s on-site and home office engineering staff, Engineer-of-Record, Dominion (internal) Engineering staff and the Owner’s Engineer, tracking the comment/review cycle for all RFI’s, Transmittals, Submittals, and scope of work matters, etc. throughout the course of the Project. Ensures project results meet contractual requirements regarding safety, environmental, quality, reliability, schedule and cost. Candidate may be asked to serve as the primary point-of-contact for all internal company stakeholders, including Energy Marketing, Transmission, Operations, Compliance, Regulatory, Media Relations, Information Technology, etc. Candidate may also serve as liaison between Project/Site Management team and Regulatory agencies, local officials, local landowners, local utility companies, etc. Candidate will be required to review all EPC project correspondence, including daily/weekly/monthly report content and structure, to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Candidate will manage an inspection deficiencies and action report and will work closely with EPC’s engineering staff to develop and manage a project Action Item list up to acceptance of Substantial Completion. Candidate will observe witness testing and examinations as Owner’s commissioning representative. Participate in lessons-learned and project closeout activities as required. Working directly with Dominion Operations, Dominion Operations subcontractors, and EPC contractor, candidate will ensure a smooth transition of responsibility of solar system from construction to operations. Monitor surroundings while on the project site to ensure safe work practices and compliance with all OSHA and company safety regulations. Candidate will perform all other duties as required by the Project Manager.

Comments/Special Instructions
Two work locations within 15 miles of each other. Max hours per week of 50. Company vehicle provided for on-site use by contractor. Per diem at $142.00 per day up to seven days per week if applicable.

Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of solar engineering and design including equipment selection, panel configuration, racking systems, inverters/transformers, interconnection and electrical engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory.
Candidate must have strong oral communication and technical writing skills.
Candidate must have the ability to apply sound engineering theories and concepts to complex problems.
Candidate must have the ability to interpret codes, regulations and current solar construction best practices to ensure safe and reliable solar system operation.
Candidate must have direct experience with solar and point of interconnection engineering, design, and construction. Demonstrated project management skills required with the ability to work independently while reporting directly to the Dominion Project Manager.
Extensive computer skills in AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, scheduling software, and solar design software, such as PVSyst are required.
This position requires field experience and successful candidate will spend up to 75% of work hours outdoors as necessary to ensure installation methods, materials, and processes meet specifications of approved project design drawings.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at 4 to 10 years experience, primarily in solar design and application.
A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline other than electrical engineering will be considered if candidate has a minimum of 6 years direct experience in solar design and construction.
