System One is currently seeking a Solar Consulting Specialist for a direct hire position with full benefits.
Holding a position as National Advisor for Solar on the Energy Unit Management Team in
North America, this is a senior level role:
I) Act as a business developer and project manager for solar projects. This position is responsible for managing all phases of solar project development--from concept through commissioning and operations--including providing a range of engineering inputs from enabling environment preparation and initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility, due diligence, construction monitoring and acceptance for infrastructure both in the U.S. and internationally.
II) The selected candidate will build on the strong international foundation of projects and help us to increase our market share across the US and elsewhere in the Western hemisphere while supporting our increasing activities with federally supported international programs.
III) The Consulting Specialist will be expected to work as the North American lead for an integrated, global network, providing the chance to work alongside other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary project team leading to an understanding of projects from different technology perspectives
Solar Consulting Specialist Responsibilities:
•Project management experience - Interface and work with project teams and clients utilizing strong prioritization, organizational, and communication skills to ensure the success of projects
•Self-directed with ability to work well / seamlessly with a larger team, including outside experts (e.g., financial, legal, regulatory, etc.) but with an entrepreneurial style
•Experience in the development of MW scale solar PV power projects from concept through commissioning and operations, including the design and installation of large scale commercial solar PV projects with an emphasis in North America
•Financial modelling experience with knowledge of solar energy financing structures, including economic and tax assumptions
•Previous applicable experience working in a commercial negotiation environment with excellent commercial management, negotiation, and influencing skills
•Knowledge of the solar energy and battery storage power market and its dynamics, and the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends
•The business potential and build business cases; develop small and large scale solar projects up to financial close
•Familiarity with variable renewable energy integration analyses to efficiently and securely deploy solar energy resources, including electrical analysis (load flow, stability), short-term dispatch simulation, reliability assessment, and risk-based scenario analyses
•Strong prioritization, organizational, and oral and written communication skills – additional language skills preferred. Experience working with Federal client’s a plus but not required.
•Grow and nurture external relationships and build and maintain strong networks with key clients, business partners and competitors, driving joint initiatives where appropriate and using these networks to influence, close deals and impact the growth and direction of the business.
•Work collaboratively with colleagues, acting as a role model and ambassador for the company, articulating and representing the brand, vision and value proposition internally and externally. Travel expectation – 20-40%
•Establish and nurture an innovative, challenging, collaborative and high performing work environment, which supports and fosters company values and culture
Solar Consulting Specialist Requirements:
•Candidates should have a track record of developing and maintaining commercial and technical solutions within the US power markets, and be able to demonstrate a wide network of contacts within the industry. Clients are mix of Utilities, Developers and Contractors, and financial concerns such as banks and private equity investors.
•The role will also include the ability to manage and provide top quality input into proposals and into business development efforts to build the Power Consulting & Advisory business in North America.
•The role requires an experienced power professional with a renewables and power delivery background, including at least 10 years of experience in developing solar PV power systems, and involve some level of technical expertise in battery storage systems.
•This position requires an Engineer degree with a Master’s degree highly preferred.
•The role will also leverage skills to accomplish the following:
Development and negotiation of commercial solutions to secure frameworks and specific work packages. This will involve the preparation and realization of capture plans for individual jobs and work streams in line with client requirements.
Liaise with US, Canada, and European units to deliver solar and other renewable elements to multidisciplinary projects across the various infrastructure units
An in-depth knowledge of the market and the customers associated with the market
This position can work from selected locations in the United States – Boston, Charlotte, Raleigh, Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, or Austin
Relocation package will be provided for a qualified candidates.
