How you'll contribute…
Boyd Jones is seeking Electrical and Mechanical Superintendents with a background in utility-scale Solar construction. Superintendents will lead operations for EPC utility solar projects, ensuring all work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires proven experience in managing mechanical or electrical construction activities and crews on complex renewable energy projects, with a strong focus on leadership, constructability, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities…
Review construction documents for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
Interpret and ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, and specifications.
Coordinate with design engineers to resolve discrepancies and design challenges.
Support the development, monitoring, and updating of project schedules, including three- and six-week look-aheads.
Lead field activities to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency across different scopes.
Oversee utilization and management of company tools, equipment, and resources.
Collaborate with project stakeholders, engineers, subcontractors, and owners to maintain alignment on goals and expectations.
Conduct pre-construction planning sessions and lead effective project site meetings.
Supervise and mentor project partners, construction coordinators, craft forepersons, and crews.
Manage hiring, training, performance evaluation, and, when necessary, termination of craft workers.
Ensure accurate task coding of work hours and monitor labor productivity.
Track progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions when needed.
Provide ongoing training to craft team members, ensuring certifications are current prior to task assignments.
Lead career development and succession planning discussions with forepersons and field staff.
What you'll bring…
Minimum 5 years of experience supervising construction crews in electrical, or grading disciplines.
Proven background working on EPC utility scale solar projects or large-scale renewable construction.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Strong ability to supervise and manage large, diverse teams.
In-depth knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and their limitations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interact effectively with owners, engineers, and team members.
Solid understanding of job costing and construction financials.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contract documents, and construction specifications.
Knowledge of federal and state codes applicable to project execution.
Willingness to relocate to the project site for the duration of the project.
May be required to obtain licensing qualifications, such as journeyman or master electrician, depending on contract requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 10 or 30 certification and thorough knowledge of construction safety requirements.
Demonstrated experience on utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
Proficiency with Office 365 and construction/project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, and more).
Strong track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
