Contract Chemical Operator at Los Angeles


Contract Chemical Operator is required to work in the manufacturing area of the Los Angeles chemical plant. The Contractor will report directly to the Production Supervisor and will take day to day direction from the on-shift Lead Production Tech. During training and assessment period the Contract Operator will be performing general housekeeping and painting jobs. Once the assessment period is over, the Contractor will be expected to perform simple production tasks, such as pulling raw materials drums and totes from inventory using a forklift and will be trained to be able to do so. Further work and training will include using machines to package liquid chemicals into drums and totes. Requirements: Must speak, read and write English, Certified Forklift Driver and must provide own steel toed boots. Shifts: The Contractor will work a 40-hour shift from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm during the initial training and assessment period. Once trained, the Contractor will be assigned to a shift. The Contractor will work a 12-hour shift, 6 am to 6 pm, or 6 pm to 6 am. The shifts work 3 days of 12 hours one week, 4 days or 12 hours the next. The shifts switch between days and nights every 3 months. The shifts include weekends and holidays. Expectations: ****************** Must be available to work rotating shifts! ************************* The Contract Chemical Operator will be required to:

Follow all company safety policies and procedures, failure to do so will not be tolerated
Complete required training (safety, environmental, etc.)
Work safely at all times and to keep current on all training provided
Participate in the plant safety programs, including finding and resolving safety issues
Be at work on time and leave on time
Take direction from many different people, including on-shift employees and Production Supervision
Shower at the end of each shift; a locker will be provided for personal items
Work with chemicals: methylenedianailine, formaldehyde, resins and epoxies. (respirator not required)
Be exposed to noise (85dBA over an 8 hour average and site has HCP)
Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, bend/stoop, squat and reach above shoulder.
Will be required to work from heights, with/around moving machinery, wear protective equipment and will be exposed to changes in humidity/temperature.

Company will provide: Personal Protective Equipment All safety training associated with the job All tools needed to perform activities in a safe manner ** Must wear own steel toed boots the first day of assignment or will be turned away **
