Contract / Temp to Direct / Direct Hire: Contract

System One is seeking a Mechanical Designer Manufacturing in the New York, NY area.

Local Candidates only

Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.

8 month assignment.

Hours Per Week: 40.00

The Staff Mechanical Industrial Designer will work on an integrated design team within our Aviation and Federal (A&F) division (Global Practice) to perform the following duties:

Design commercial HVAC, Plumbing and Fire protection systems using Revit MEP for new and existing Aviation and Government facilities across the United States. Some plant layout design is also a possibility depending on the individualís previous experience.
Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
May coordinate drafting activities.
Apply basic formulas and compute necessary calculations regarding layout designs.
Execute design changes and project drawing revisions.
Submittal packaging
Weekly audits on all models
Review coordination errors for monitored elements
Multi discipline clash resolution
Complete model set up and maintenance
Fire Protection and Mechanical modeling
Creation of Revit custom families
3D model exports for CM team
Generation of CAD exports for submittals
Drafting details creation.
Submittal schedules maintenance
All other duties as assigned.

Bachelorís degree in drafting technology or related field and eight years related experience or associate's degree and ten years related experience or eleven years progressive detailing and design experience.
Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
Revit experience strongly preferred.
Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
Advanced knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
Advanced knowledge in the theory and practices of assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers and Designers in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to travel 5%.
