[Manufacturing Technician] PRESS OPERATOR

Contract / Temp to Direct / Direct Hire: Contract

Operators are responsible for setting up and operating smaller tonnage presses, typically for cold or hot forming, cutoff or piercing operations, as well as operating presses specified by work order, blueprint, drawing, template or layout. Operators must also perform additional secondary operations such as manual milling, annealing, fusing, shot blast, grit blast, and packaging.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Set-up and operation of large tonnage presses (typically 900 tons or more)
• Install specified dies in press using gauges and hand tools
• Aligns dies in press according to specifications using feelers, shims, templates, bolts, clamps and wrenches
• Assists in tool room with inspection of die (when required) upon completion of job
• Inserts blanks manually into press and performs either hot or cold form operations
• Responsible for accounting for steel usage (as required) and accurately record piecework formed
• Perform manual mill operations, ensuring beveled edge meets with customer specifications
• Capable of adjusting temperatures on Fuse/Anneal ovens and operating to check sheet requirements
• Capable of operating shot and grit blast machines, knowing which medium is used for each operation
• Understanding what parts need to be oiled and proper finish prior to leaving cell
• Check quality of product machined and notify supervisor of process issues
• Package customers’ parts
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform operator maintenance and/or 5S housekeeping per established schedules
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
• At least 1 year of press set-up, operation, and manufacturing experience
• Ability to use basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work safety and efficiently
• Ability to work with close tolerances
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes
• Read blue print, engineer drawings, or customer drawings
• Be able to lift 30- 40 lbs

• $22.00 per hour
• 60-hour weekly guarantee
• Paid Travel
• Paid Lodging
