Raw Materials Buyer
Direct position located in This position is located at the Aiken, SC site
Understand strategies for assigned categories of spend while proactively delivering on initiatives to meet company objectives
Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability
Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver cost reduction goals
Support & implement corporate global category managerís strategies as it applies to BU
Monitor and report on PO activity and supplier performance
Analyze and track supplier promise date accuracy and provide actual quality & delivery performance results into supplier score cards
Drive effective recovery plans and ensure timely resolution of invoicing & payment issues.
Place Purchase Orders (PO) timely and obtain PO acknowledgements from suppliers
Provides suppliers with specifications for raw material shipments, obtaining confirmation via COAís with all shipments in support of plant quality requirements.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, price, availability, and delivery schedules.
Works with Director and R&D on the supplier selection process for new raw material needs, fully supporting test & trial schedules.
Tracks RM inventory and places orders based upon demand.
Ensures BU RM purchasing compliance with corporate contracts
Inputs orders into E1 system, runs regular RM reports such as Open Order and Inventory reports along with management of RM Dashboard tools.
Expedites delivery of RMís as required to meet production requirements.
Active participant in BU Continuous Improvement & Safety initiatives or Kaizen events
Participant in all RM procurement organizational meetings and training.
Strong sills using JDE E1 Operating system (of similar system) with regards to PO set-up and management through receipt.
Utilize computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and other software applications including data entry and database management.
Provide oral and written communication to all levels of employees within the company and external suppliers.
Maintain a professional and polite demeanor.
Ability to analyze quotations to determine which will be most beneficial for the company.
Organize and prioritize work.
Drive results and continuous improvement in the organization.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
Bachelorís Degree in Business Administration with focus on Supply Chain Management or similar field preferred.
5+ years purchasing experience.
Proven track record of driving cost reduction through purchasing of materials and collaboration with suppliers.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Purchasing Certification is a strong plus
Experience in six-sigma / lean initiatives preferred.
Results-oriented, self-starter - strong track record of achieving results.
Team Player - ability to work across the organization.
Strong analytical, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
