[Mechanic] Pump Repair Mechanic

The Pump Repair Mechanic dismantles, cleans, inspects, repairs, and re-assembles high energy, multi-stage pumps used in industrial settings, such as refineries, chemical processing, and power plants. Our shop is in constant motion, with tight deadlines, challenging mechanical problems, and a customer-focused crew.

RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIREMENTS
• Dismantle pumps and decoking equipment following safety procedures, using torches and liquid nitrogen as needed Inspect pumps and equipment, checking dimensions of components
• Clean pump components Complete accurate, thorough inspection and assembly documentation, including photos and descriptions of condition of components.
• Coordinate effectively in a small team environment, discussing repair recommendations and resolving problems with supervisors, machinists, engineers, buyers, and planners.
• Run balance machine to properly balance impellers and shaft
• Self-verify workmanship. Inspect all components for critical fits and run-outs.
• Paint, tag, and prep the pump for shipment to the customer.
• Throughout the process, follow routers, instructions, checklists and engineering drawings
• Have a positive attitude that contributes to team-building, decision- making, problem solving, and continuous improvements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• 3+ years of experience in after-market repair and service of mechanical equipment, with specific experience in rotating pumps highly desired
• Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and drawings
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required on short notice
• Standing for long times required, frequent lifting with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must have full range of movement to reach, work with hands and arms in various positions, stoop, and move under and around equipment.
• Must have a personal set of mechanic's tools and roll-around tool box
• Current driver’s license to occasionally drive company pick-up truck
• Forklift certification desirable
• Must speak and communicate ideas clearly, read with good comprehension, and write good paragraphs describing equipment
• Demonstrated track record of reliable, dependable work ethic with a personal commitment to quality workmanship
• Show an attention to detail, and a respect for processes and instructions
• Must show a customer-service, results-oriented mindset
