This individual will help set the machine up for delivery to client application. They will also do the client install to make sure everything is set up correctly for the operator and mfg environment. They may be asked to be able to assist with maintenance on some issues where applicable either by phone or in person although it is not a daily maintenance role. Their primary function will be to get the equipment from Europe, work with the customer to set the machine up and then install.
Luxscan specializes in wood scanners that can be placed in-line in a wood mfg environment or as a stand alone in a furniture making mfg environment. It detects flaws, knots or imperfections in the wood. Their equipment is used in the wood, flooring, cabinet and other industries. These machines are programmed and manufactured back in Europe. Once delivered this candidate will be communicating with the customer to find out exactly what they want the scanner to do and then input up to 10,000 different parameters into the touch screen computer. The panel will be custom, open environment software built in Visual Basic and C++. The candidate does not have to know that SW but must be familiar with how to program PLC's and ladder logic. If the candidate can logically figure out the steps to program PLC's they should be able to pick up on Luxscan process for setting up the customer application for the scanners. Assembled laser scanning equipment. Make precision mechanical alignment of lasers and IVP cameras in order to obtain good images for proper software analysis to identify defects in wood boards and parts which traveled along a conveyor belt.
The candidate will be training for the first several months to learn how to set up the scanners and work with the customer. The candidate will eventually need to be able to pick up on everything and work independently but that could be up to a year.
Used oscilloscope to monitor scanned image in order to make the precision alignments of laser and camera. Make adjustments to software to account for variations of wood color depending on wood species and types of defects customer needed to detect. Trained customer on operation of scanner and software.
+Associates degree preferred, but not mandatory.
+Candidate must be very hands on and take part in running wood through the equipment to test and troubleshoot.
