[Construction Manager] Well spoken Chem/Pharma Construction Manager - Houston

Looking for a well-spoken Construction Manager to help us expand our presence across
the Chemical Industries, through collaborative partnerships and working relationships.
Location: Houston, TX or Columbia, MD

Type of Employment: Contract

Overview:

Initial contract position is full time with the potential to lead into direct hire.

Key attributes of the candidate are as follows:
• Ability to navigate internal and external politics of a particular project
• Academic approach to project management, with high emotional intelligence in managing resources both in team, across and up the line.
• Able to speak well with diverse and disciplined colleagues in the chemical and pharmaceutical arena.
• Remote work from home is acceptable, Houston based is ideal as there are four plants in that area.
• Ability to visit sites, be flexible and mobile to engage with stakeholder and project team mates on sites.
• A construction manager that can manage the project yet has an approachable and friendly personality.
• Starts as soon as you can
• Pay range: TBD
• Re-location pay: TBD

Role & Responsibilities:
• Leads and organizes the preplanning and construction effort for the Central Project Team in alignment with the project execution strategies.
• Establishes effective communications between the Project Team and contractors to ensure alignment of the Construction effort.
• Development/endorsement and implementation of the constructability plan.
• Acts as the focal point and Subject Matter Expert for construction-related issues.
• Interfaces with Contractors to develop and endorse the Construction Management Plan.
• Works with construction and safety personnel to ensure a robust safety system is implemented on a project.
• Works with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure a robust safety system is implemented on a project.
• Interfaces with Project Controls to determine contractor reporting requirements.
• Reviews and endorses Project Controls plans achievable schedule resource loaded and leveled progress plans, including balanced labor, work density, construction efficiency, progress targets and productivity rates.
• Manages home office construction planning organizations and field staffing plans
and construction organizations.
• Manages Construction resources dedicated to projects.
• Builds and fosters relationships with contractor organizations.Coordinate with the Procurement organization to ensure that procurement plans are developed according to the construction strategy.
• Provides construction support to early (FEL 0,1,2) projects to identify construction issues that impact the project planning and cost estimates.
• Working with Business units and Development managers to effect capitol efficiency in plant locations, execution planning, fabrication.
• Ability to work with and manage construction issues in design and EPC teams.
• Ability to instill a culture and manage a safe work environment and program which includes but is not limited to job site safety analysis, rigging plans, and environmental risk planning and ergonomics.
• Ensure implementation of safety statistics and reporting on projects.
• Ability to identify, assess and manage risk.
• Provide input to TIC estimates at all stages of a project.
• Development of Stage-Gate processes and procedures related to Constructability and Construction Management.
• Project Construction Assurance for respective project stage.
• Duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience with a related 4-year bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related degree.
• 20+ years without a related 4-year degree.
• Demonstrated experience in managing construction utilizing GCs, EPC, EPCM, Design Build, T&M, LS, and LSTK Construction Contracts
• Project, Program and Portfolio Management
Contract position requiring working under your own company as an independent contractor.
Must be able to provide four recent references and successfully complete a background investigation regarding skills and demeaner.
