Talascend is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join the team of a top contributing automotive client with a position based in Kansas City, KS.

OVERVIEW:

As a Certified Welding Inspector, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of welding and joining processes within our automotive manufacturing environment. Your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting, training, problem-solving, and conducting root cause analysis for welding and joining operations. You will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing various equipment and technologies to uphold the highest standards of quality and productivity.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Troubleshoot, maintain, and set up automotive robots, welding controls, and joining equipment, including but not limited to Fanuc, WTC welders, and SCA dispensers.
Utilize your expertise in laser welding and laser brazing processes, including Precitec Seam tracking and Scansonic ALO3 laser head, to ensure precise and efficient operations.
Perform plant floor troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing downtime and maximizing production output.
Conduct training sessions to impart knowledge and best practices to team members, ensuring a high level of competency across the welding and joining processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, enhancing overall efficiency and quality.
Demonstrate proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Power BI, Word, and Access, for data analysis and reporting purposes.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Top 3 Skills Required:
Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and setting up automotive robots, welding controls, and joining equipment.
Experience with laser welding and laser brazing processes, including familiarity with Precitec Seam tracking and Scansonic ALO3 laser head.
Strong PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products for data analysis and reporting.

Patience is essential, especially in a Union environment, where tasks may require leading trades through breakdowns without direct intervention.
Self-starter mentality, capable of working independently and managing assignments effectively once familiar with processes.
Attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed thoroughly and accurately to meet quality standards.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in resistance spot welding (steel and aluminum), projection welding, drawn arc welding, brazing, mechanical joining, sealer/adhesive dispensing processes, and automated robotic manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering, Metallurgy, or equivalent experience preferred.
Previous automotive manufacturing experience desirable.
Work Schedule: Must be flexible to work various shifts, rotate shifts, and weekends as required.
