Job Description:
We are seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer who will be responsible for designing automation control systems based on customer specifications. The role includes developing electrical drawings and programming automation and control systems involving PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, and vision systems. The engineer will specify electrical equipment and materials, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, design and debug Data Acquisition systems (SCADA), and calibrate water/wastewater and/or automotive manufacturing control systems.
Responsibilities:
Design automation control systems from customer specifications.
Develop electrical drawings.
Program automation and control systems involving PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, and vision systems.
Specify electrical equipment and materials based on calculations and engineering principles.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues quickly.
Design and debug Data Acquisition systems (SCADA).
Power-up, debug, and calibrate water/wastewater and/or automotive manufacturing control systems.
Follow all company processes and checklists, and support the development of standardized design platforms.
Essential Skills:
Bachelor�s or Technical degree or certificate in a controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software, etc.)
5 years of applicable and relevant experience.
Proficiency in PLC programming, specifically with Rockwell GLx, CLx & PLC5.
Experience in automotive, conveyor, or comparable controls.
Proven track record of logic writing and program changes.
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
Proficient in programming PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, GE/Emerson) and HMI/SCADA systems (Factory Talk, Ignition, Cimplicity).
Industrial electrical hands-on experience, including troubleshooting of 480VAC 3-phase, 120 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to read, revise, and create logic, HMI/SCADA programs, and VFD parameters.
Detail-oriented and capable of writing and modifying logic in conformance to client standards.
Experience with conveyor systems including Skid, Skillet, Pallet, Friction Drive, EMS, Power & Free.
Logical thinker and problem solver.
Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a 'Can Do' mindset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment:
This role will be fully onsite in Newport News within a heavy industrial environment.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $125,000.00 - $150,000.00.
