Facility Operations Manager
Work Location: Washington DC
Rate: Not Defined / need Candidates requested rate
Hours: 40 hrs/week w/ Ability to work 10 to 12-hour shift, weekends, and nights occasionally.

General Description:
Experienced supervisor for operations of high-temperature equipment, glass melting systems, air pollution control systems, and slurry mixing and pumping systems. Under the general administrative direction of the VSL Melter Operations Manager, supports the operation of glass melters, air pollution control systems and operation of waste materials slurry preparations. Responsibility is exercised with a high degree of independence. Maintains frequent contact with a limited array of VSL and site personnel.
Experience requirements:
� Minimum of 10 years of operating with at least 5 years supervising operations in an industrial environment.
� Experience with glass production or chemical facilities preferred.
Education Requirements:
� Bachelors degree in engineering, operations management, chemistry or other relevant science is required.
Responsibilities:
� Oversee daily operations of the facility to ensure safe, efficient and compliant work across all shifts and equipment.
� Lead, develop, and manage facility personnel, including operators, technicians, and laboratory managers.
� Coordinate maintenance, reliability and capital improvement projects in collaboration with engineering and leadership.
� Manage inventory levels of chemicals, consumable inventory supplies for operation, and spare parts.
� Ensure facility is being operated in line with internal quality assurance plan. Including chemical and sample handling, data acquisition, equipment calibrations, and operating procedures.
� Supervises shipping and receiving of radioactive and non-radioactive chemicals, samples and sources,
� Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and internal policies. Maintain the Hazardous Waste storage area and documentation and coordinate with University EHS department.
� Ability to work 10 to 12-hour shift, weekends, and nights occasionally.

� Performing repetitive tasks with precision
� Standing, Stooping, Climbing ladders
� Light lifting (occasional lifting of 25 lbs. or less)
� Manual Dexterity
� Mobility within expansive lab facilities
