The Body Repair Technician is responsible for performing high-quality bodywork, surface preparation, and cosmetic repairs on armored vehicle components. This role requires experience in applying, sanding, and finishing techniques, with a strong commitment to precision and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
* Perform body filler repairs on armored truck panels, doors, hoods, and structural components.
* Repair dents, seams, weld marks, and surface imperfections to meet quality and durability standards.
* Sand, shape, and smooth repaired areas to ensure proper contour and finish.
* Prepare surfaces for primer and paint, including cleaning, masking, and applying sealants as needed.
* Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and paint technicians to ensure seamless repair flow.
* Inspect completed work to ensure adherence to company specifications and customer requirements.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
* Follow all safety protocols related to working with fillers, chemicals, and armored vehicle materials.
* Assist with additional body shop tasks as needed, including minor fabrication or prep work.
Essential Skills
* Proficiency in automotive repair, sanding, grinding, finishing, and bodywork repair.
* Skill in mixing, applying, shaping, and smoothing body filler on metal surfaces.
* Experience with cleaning, grinding, sanding, and prepping armored panels for repair and finishing.
* Proficiency with hand sanding, power sanders, block sanding, and contour shaping.
* Ability to repair dents, weld seams, imperfections, and structural blemishes.
* Experience in masking, priming, feather-edging, and preparing surfaces for paint application.
* Skilled with grinders, DA sanders, body files, spreaders, and shop equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in automotive body repair, collision repair, or industrial finishing.
* Strong proficiency in body filler application, sanding, shaping, and finishing.
* Experience working with metal surfaces; aluminum and steel experience preferred.
* Ability to read and follow work orders, repair instructions, and technical drawings.
* Familiarity with industrial or specialty vehicle manufacturing is a plus.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Ability to lift, bend, and work in a shop environment with power tools and chemicals.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Problem-solving and adaptability.

Work Environment
Work in an auto-body type manufacturing environment, with shifts typically from 7am to 3:30pm, occasionally extending to 4:30pm and Saturdays as business demands. Engage in hands-on work with trucks and vans stripped down to the frame and built from the wheels up, excluding the engine/motor.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39520.00 - $43680.00/yr.
