Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts, writing, testing, and revising CNC programs, and interpreting blueprints to ensure parts meet specifications. The ideal candidate will perform in-process quality checks and collaborate with engineers for optimal production.
Responsibilities
* Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts, configuring workpieces efficiently while meeting specified tolerances.
* Write, test, and revise CNC programs to control contour-path machining, compute dimensions and cutting sequences, and determine tool selection and machine speeds.
* Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and design data to determine machining processes based on part specifications and machine capabilities.
* Perform in-process quality checks using inspection tools, complete quality paperwork, and ensure parts meet engineered specifications.
* Write technical documents such as instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation.
* Compare computer printouts with original programs to ensure accuracy and observe trial runs for verification.
Essential Skills
* Five years' experience operating CNC lathes and mills with proficiency in CNC controls and basic programming.
* Strong understanding of metal properties, cutting tools, feed rates, speeds, and depth of cuts.
* Ability to apply shop math, geometric tolerance and dimensioning.
* Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
* Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Proficiency in Fanuc control and troubleshooting.
* Experience with Mastercam for programming.
* Ability to write and edit G code and M code at the machine.
* Strong verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and engineers.
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Lansing, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $62400.00/yr.
Top 85% of benefits within the industry Eligible for benefits 1st of the month 2 floating holidays per year 401k match 100% up to 3% Eligible for yearly bonus (1.5% based on performance review)
