Talascend is currently seeking a Mobile Facilities Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Overview
The primary responsibility of a mobile facilities engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple facilities. The role requires demonstrated technical expertise in at least one core trade area—electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations—with multi-skilled capability in additional disciplines.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure facilities meet applicable standards.
Travel between multiple facilities to ensure proper operation and functionality.
Maintain responsibility for facility services, including:
Preventative maintenance
Purchasing and inventory control
Contracted maintenance oversight
General maintenance activities
Technical proficiency across systems
Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment through cleaning, inspection, calibration, and replacement of parts to ensure optimal performance.
Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation.
Comply with departmental policies related to the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Perform periodic inspections of tools and instruments to ensure proper inventory and functionality.
Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by external contractors.
Adhere to all safety procedures; maintain good housekeeping and safe work areas.
Identify potential hazards and recommend or implement corrective actions to eliminate risks.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
5–7 years of relevant work experience.
Proven experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
Ability to analyze commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; diagnose malfunctions; and perform corrective actions.
EPA 608 Type II Certification.
Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Valid driver’s license.
Professional engineer (P.Eng) license is not required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
EPA 608 Universal Certification.
Two years of trade school education in:
Electrical system design
Refrigeration
HVAC systems
