Job Description

The Level III Machinist is responsible for metal cutting, drilling, grinding, and deburring parts according to the control plan specifications. The role involves operating CNC machines, transporting materials, and performing quality checks on parts using various measuring tools. This position requires flexibility in tasks and the ability to work collaboratively within the machine shop.

Responsibilities
* Set up and operate CNC machines, transport materials, and operate wash tanks.
* Perform quality checks using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
* Troubleshoot and solve everyday problems within the machine shop.
* Maintain high standards of production quality and housekeeping.
* Flexibly transition between different machines and tasks as needed.

Essential Skills
* Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machines.
* Proficiency in operating CNC machines.
* Baseline experience with gauging and quality measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
* Experience using sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
* Strong math skills, including addition and subtraction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
* Experience in performing quality inspections on finished parts.
* Deburring experience is preferred.

Work Environment

The machine shop is a large facility with over 500 employees spread across multiple shifts. The environment is temperature-controlled and maintains a relaxed dress code. Safety is prioritized with minimal debris and strict adherence to PPE requirements. Shifts are structured to provide flexibility, and overtime is scheduled as needed. Employees are trained thoroughly on safety requirements and are expected to maintain a clean and organized work area.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.47 - $24.47/hr.
