Job Description

This role focuses on servicing Blowout Preventer (BOP) stacks and related oilfield equipment, including double gates, annulars, spools, tongs, elevators, and cylinders. You will disassemble and assemble units, perform inspections and dimensional reporting, troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues, and carry out pressure, load, and pull testing. You will collaborate with internal departments to coordinate repairs and will gradually work on a broader range of equipment to expand your technical knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities
* Disassemble and assemble BOP stacks and associated components, including double gates, annulars, spools, tongs, elevators, and cylinders.
* Perform detailed inspections of equipment and complete dimensional reports with accurate measurements and documentation.
* Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement effective repair solutions.
* Conduct pressure testing, load testing, and pull testing on equipment to verify integrity and performance.
* Operate and use a hydraulic test bench to perform functional tests on components and systems.
* Read and interpret blueprints and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to guide assembly, disassembly, and repair work.
* Use precision measuring tools such as verniers, calipers, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances.
* Complete inspection reports and other required documentation clearly and accurately.
* Operate overhead cranes and sit-down forklifts to move, position, and secure equipment and components safely.
* Follow established safety protocols and procedures at all times while working in the shop and around heavy equipment.
* Coordinate repair activities and testing requirements with other internal departments to ensure timely completion of work.
* Support assembly and service activities on additional equipment as required to broaden your knowledge base over time.

Essential Skills
* Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent Millwright trade qualification.
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a Millwright working on the assembly and disassembly of industrial equipment.
* Hands-on experience with BOP stacks and related oilfield equipment, including valves, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and P&ID drawings for assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting.
* Proficiency using measurement tools such as vernier calipers, standard calipers, and tape measures.
* Experience filling out inspection and dimensional reporting accurately and legibly.
* Hydraulic test bench experience for testing and troubleshooting hydraulic components and systems.
* Experience operating an overhead crane in a shop or industrial environment.
* Experience with pneumatics and related components in industrial equipment.
* Hydraulics, including understanding of hydraulic circuits, components, and testing procedures.
* Experience performing pull testing and load testing on industrial or oilfield equipment.
* Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently.
* Strong adherence to safety protocols and safe work practices in a heavy industrial environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy industrial shop located in southeast Calgary, employing approximately 50 trades workers with plans for significant expansion in 2025. You will work in a hands-on environment with heavy industrial and oilfield equipment, including BOP stacks, valves, pumps, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Daily work involves the use of hydraulic test benches, overhead cranes, sit-down forklifts, and a range of precision measuring tools. The role follows structured safety protocols and procedures appropriate for a heavy industrial setting. Two shift options are available: a day shift from Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with overtime eligibility after 8 hours in any day, or an afternoon shift from Monday to Thursday, 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with overtime eligibility after 10 hours in any day and a shift premium for afternoons. Dress is typical for a shop and trades environment, suitable for working around machinery, tools, and testing equipment.
