Talascend is seeking a Proposal Manager for a direct hire opportunity an Energy Equipment Client based in Salem, Ohio.

This position serves as the technical bridge between sales, engineering, and customers, supporting furnace and heat treatment projects for steel industry clients worldwide. While the title is Proposal Manager, the role is heavily focused on evaluating customer requirements, developing technical solutions, supporting RFQs, cost estimating, customer presentations, and coordinating proposal activities. The position also provides leadership to one Proposal Engineer.

Responsibilities
Lead the development of technical and commercial proposals for furnace and heat treatment projects
Review RFQs and identify customer requirements
Develop project scope, technical solutions, and cost estimates
Support customer meetings, presentations, and technical discussions
Coordinate proposal activities with engineering, drafting/design, estimating, and sales teams
Evaluate technical, commercial, and project risks
Support proposal strategy, quality, and execution
Provide post-award support to internal teams
Supervise and mentor one Proposal Engineer

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
7+ years of experience in industrial equipment, thermal processing, furnace systems, heat treatment equipment, or related industries
Experience supporting technical proposals, applications engineering, project engineering, or capital equipment sales support
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and process drawings
Knowledge of thermal processes, furnace systems, combustion systems, or heat treatment equipment
Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills
Experience collaborating with engineering and sales teams

Travel & Schedule
Hybrid schedule: Remote Mondays and Fridays
Onsite Tuesday–Thursday in Salem, OH
9/80 work schedule
30–50% domestic and international travel
