Job Description

The Dryer Operator works in the Drying Department and is responsible for drying and packaging bulk ferrous sulfate in accordance with work instructions and standard operating procedures. This role operates production equipment, maintains accurate documentation, and supports daily production targets while following safety requirements and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Responsibilities
* Operate dryer machinery to dry bulk ferrous sulfate according to work instructions and SOPs.
* Load bulk material into the dryer machine using a sit-down forklift.
* Run material through the dryer and monitor the process, making adjustments to machinery as needed.
* Use a screening machine to sift the dried product to the required specifications.
* Move dried material to storage bins using appropriate equipment such as a skid steer.
* Maintain proper stock rotation of finished goods approved moist ferrous sulfate.
* Complete work orders and production records accurately and in a timely manner.
* Sample product for quality control testing and follow QC instructions.
* Meet daily production level requirements as determined by leadership.
* Follow all safety requirements and use appropriate personal protective equipment as needed.
* Maintain good housekeeping standards in all production areas.
* Complete shift change cleaning requirements to ensure a clean and safe work environment for the next shift.

Essential Skills
* Proven sit-down forklift operating experience.
* Previous experience operating production machinery and making operational adjustments.
* Experience with documentation and record-keeping in a manufacturing setting.
* Ability to consistently lift up to 55 pounds.
* Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
* Ability to follow work instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures.
* Comfort working in a food manufacturing environment with adherence to GMP and cGMP practices.
* Strong attention to detail for completing work orders, production records, and QC sampling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience working in the food and beverage industry.
* Machine troubleshooting experience in a production environment.
* Familiarity with dryer operation and related processing equipment.
* Experience working in environments with dust or similar industrial conditions.
* Comfort using PPE such as N95 masks or similar face coverings during shifts.

Work Environment

This position is based on a production shop floor in a food manufacturing environment. The work area is dusty, with iron salt dust visible on the floor, and the air can have a metallic smell similar to pennies that may leave a faint taste in the mouth. The material handled is not hazardous to health, but employees may choose to wear an N95 mask or a scarf throughout the shift for comfort. The role involves operating machinery, driving a sit-down forklift and skid steer, and performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 55 pounds. The environment is industrial and can be dirty, with an emphasis on safety, proper use of equipment, and maintaining housekeeping standards. Uniforms are provided when employees become full time, and steel toe footwear is required, supported by a reimbursement program
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
