Job Description

This role focuses on welding and assembling large structural skids for modular cooling systems in a manufacturing shop environment. You will work primarily with I-beams, channels, and other structural components, using MIG and flux core processes to produce high-quality, structurally sound welds that meet rigorous testing standards.

Responsibilities
* Weld and assemble structural skids for modular cooling systems using MIG and flux core welding processes.
* Work with I-beams, channels, and other structural steel components to build large, complex skid assemblies.
* Perform vertical and overhead welding on 1/2 inch carbon plate and structural members.
* Pass and maintain qualification for 3G and 4G weld tests using MIG root with flux core pass on carbon plate.
* Use grinding and gouging tools to prepare, clean, and finish welds to required specifications.
* Interpret basic instructions, layouts, or drawings related to skid fabrication and assembly requirements.
* Operate safely in a busy manufacturing shop, following all safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment.
* Collaborate with other welders, fitters, and shop personnel to ensure accurate and timely completion of skid assemblies.
* Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality, structural integrity, and compliance with standards.
* Handle and position structural components, potentially using overhead cranes or similar equipment where experience allows.

Essential Skills
* Minimum of 5+ years of structural welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in MIG welding on carbon steel, including root passes on 1/2 inch plate.
* Proficiency in flux core welding (flux, fluxcore, flux core) for structural applications.
* Demonstrated ability to perform vertical and overhead welding on structural components.
* Experience welding on skids and structural assemblies such as I-beams and channels.
* Ability to pass a 3G and 4G weld test with MIG root and flux core pass on carbon plate.
* Hands-on experience with grinding and gouging to prepare and finish welds.
* Solid understanding of structural welding practices and shop safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Prior experience working in a manufacturing shop environment.
* Previous experience welding and assembling structural skids.
* Experience operating or working around overhead cranes for moving and positioning structural components.
* Experioenced as a Structural Welder, MIG Welder, or Fluxcore Welder in a similar industrial setting.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy manufacturing shop that is non-climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. You will work around heavy structural steel, skids, I-beams, and channels, and may work near overhead cranes and other material handling equipment. The role follows a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays as needed. Day shift hours are typically 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and night shift hours are approximately 4:30 PM to 2:003:00 AM. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required at all times, and the environment is industrial, hands-on, and production-driven.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.
