Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Des Moines, Iowa.

Overview

This role involves supporting the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across designated facilities. The technician will execute maintenance and repair tasks to ensure optimal building performance, safety, and occupant comfort.

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed building systems and equipment
Conduct facility inspections and document conditions impacting client occupancy and operations
Clean HVAC coils, change filters and belts, troubleshoot issues, and repair HVAC systems
Replace lighting, ballasts, and fixtures throughout assigned facilities
Assist operations teams with maintenance and repair of building equipment and components
Update work order status in real time using CMMS systems such as Corrigo
Comply with all safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and identify safety hazards

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications
Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Corrigo
Physical ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work from heights up to 30 feet, climb ladders while carrying tools, and work in extreme temperature conditions
Valid driver's license and commitment to practicing defensive driving
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
