Location: Swan Island Shipyard Portland, OR
Pay: $23.00/hour-$25.00/hour
Job Overview
We are hiring Shipyard Laborers/Firewatch personnel to support ship repair and maintenance projects at a major shipyard in Portland, OR. In this role, you will monitor hot work operations such as welding, grinding, and cutting to ensure a safe work environment while assisting skilled marine tradespeople with various tasks aboard U.S. Navy vessels. This is a hands-on position that requires working in an industrial environment and lifting materials up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor welding, grinding, and cutting operations as a Firewatch.
* Assist with job site setup, cleanup, and material organization.
* Move tools, equipment, and materials throughout the shipyard as needed.
* Support marine trades workers with ship maintenance and repair activities.
* Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
* Experience using hand and power tools.
* Ability to lift 4050 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
* Previous general labor experience in industrial, marine, or shipyard environments.
* Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
* Construction, manufacturing, or trades helper experience.
* Previous ship repair, marine repair, or industrial labor experience.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
